Investing.com – Portugal stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Basic Materials, Consumer Goods and Telecoms sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Lisbon, the PSI rose 1.10% to hit a new 1-month high.
The best performers of the session on the PSI were EDP Renovaveis (ELI:EDPR), which rose 3.18% or 0.49 points to trade at 15.88 at the close. Meanwhile, Altri SGPS SA (ELI:ALSS) added 2.01% or 0.10 points to end at 4.87 and Jeronimo Martins SGPS SA (ELI:JMT) was up 1.78% or 0.29 points to 16.60 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Corticeira Amorim (ELI:CORA), which fell 0.33% or 0.03 points to trade at 9.11 at the close. Ibersol SGPS (ELI:IBS) declined 0.28% or 0.02 points to end at 7.24 and CTT Correios de Portugal SA (ELI:CTT) was down 0.22% or 0.01 points to 4.50.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Lisbon Stock Exchange by 20 to 11 and 4 ended unchanged.
Brent oil for November delivery was up 1.82% or 1.26 to $70.45 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 2.28% or 1.50 to hit $67.25 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract rose 0.06% or 1.45 to trade at $2,544.55 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.03% to 1.10, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.31% to 0.85.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.06% at 101.66.
